If you live in the midwest like I do, you have to purchase apparel for every season. This can add up to some serious cash unless you purchase multi-purpose pieces and make your wardrobe work double time. I have already started scoping the stores for spring apparel and am keeping in mind that it is still going to be miserable for months! Here are some double-duty pieces that will last you through the whole year, not break the bank, and are causal enough to still chase around after your little rascals. I will be compiling transition trends like this for the next few months, and am starting with…
NAUTICAL!!!
I don’t think the nautical trend will ever go out of style. It can always be updated, given an edge, or dressed up/down. I stopped off at the Old Navy Outlet on my way home from Michigan last weekend (I rationalized it because I knew that their fitting room had a baby changing table, of course!). I picked up these piped button-tab trousers that I decided will the a cornerstone of my spring/summer wardrobe. I will be adding and subtracting pieces from the look according to the seasons.

Winter Look
The grand total for this outfit is about $155 + the current promotion (15% off) + free shipping.
Spring Look
I like to keep a pop of color when doing nautical; oranges and yellows are great for this. If you add too much red, it can get a little patriotic. I LOVE these canvas boat shoes; they dress this outfit down while keeping with the trend. This outfit (minus the cost of the pants, since you already have them!) is an extra $66 + the current promotion + free shipping.
Summer Look
I love a flowy tank with these fitted pants. You can add add gold heels and a chunky gold chain to dress it up, or keep it casual with primary colors. This look adds an extra $45 + the current promotion + free shipping.
ENJOY and happy shopping!
