NEW Kashi Products & Brunch Party Tips

I was lucky enough to be asked to help out at the Kashi #MorningMixer a couple of weeks ago that took place at the Hyatt downtown. This bright and early event was sponsored by my friends at The Little Style File (I am a contributor for them, so make sure to check ’em out!) and Bon Bon Rose Girls (who focus on Fashion, Decor & Everything In Between).

So, no- I am not getting paid to write a post about Kashi. I just REALLY like the new products that they came out with recently, and have already scarfed all of the samples that were in my goody bag. I also adored the food that was served at the mixer…which leads to some great party tips!

Kashi’s new stuff:

Heart to Heart Nutty Chia Flax Cereal– This stuff was pretty good, light nutty flavor, but I was most impressed by the amount of omega-3s (pregnant moms take note- this is the “good for baby’s brain” stuff that you get in Fish Oil).

Hummus Crisps– These come in three flavors- Sea Salt & Olive Oil, Caramelized Onion and Sundried Tomato, Basil & Feta. I brought a bag of these to two separate parties, and at each multiple people asked me what they were and where they could get more. My fave is the onion, but all are good. Perfectly seasoned without overdoing the salt, and made from chickpeas and whole grain.

Berry Lemonade Chewy Granola Bars– ADORE these, as does my toddler! 6 grams protein, omega-3s, and they are all natural with only 7 g of sugar (which is the same amount as in Quaker bars, although these are 35g and Quaker bars are only 24g).

Brunch Party Tips:

For those of us who are doing brunch sans alcohol, we are always on the lookout for all natural beverages that have some flavor to them. You can purchase beverage dispensers exactly like these at Crate and Barrel for $59.95. We have a couple of them, and they get used at every party.

*TIP: Freeze the slices of melon first to replace the ice cubes so you don’t have to refill the jars as often.

I love a good Mimosa Bar, but this one took the cake. They had three different garnishes (lime slices, blueberries, sliced kumquats) and three different mixers (ruby red grapefruit juice, fresh squeezed orange juice, pomegranate juice). They also had champagne AND sparkling water on ice (which really wasn’t that bad….although I would have almost given up my swag bag for some champagne). Ya know what really made the drink pop? Multicolored striped paper straws to match each of the drinks.

*TIP: Buy extra straws. Yes, the paper looks super cute, but can turn mushy if cocktail brunch runs into cocktail lunch.

Oh, and the food? My favorite was the mini french toast slices, soaked in syrup and topped with crisp bacon. Seriously? Amazing combo, very Peter Callahan-esque. I took a spin around the blogs and found THIS amazing breakfast/dessert combo on Carly Klock’s site: French Toast and Bacon Cupcakes with Maple Buttercream!

What special touches have you seen that make a brunch memorable?

Disclosure: I received samples of Kashi’s products, but all opinions and thoughts are my own.
