As I am sure you can guess, I am fairly obsessed with Derby style. It is my day to pretend that I am a southern pageant queen and sip mint juleps for the afternoon.

My look above is from Fox’s Designer Off-Price (hat and dress) and shoes are WHBM on super sale a few years ago. This year, I am part of something even bigger than donning a derby dress and an ostentatious hat.

One of my friends, Julie Hightower of A Better Day with Julie, has partnered with the Daisie Foundation to host a derby-style luncheon in support of their Mother’s Day Initiative. They aim to empower 150 deserving women in Chicago with the funds raised at the luncheon.
Hosted by Michelle Relerford of NBC 5, we have a lineup of keynote speakers that includes some of the most influential and inspiring women in Chicago. All are coming together to not only honor the valuable role mothers play in our society as parents and leaders but also to inspire these independent, beautiful women to reclaim their confidence in both their professional and personal lives:
Katy Lynch– former CEO of Techweek
Jeannine Turner, MD– Cardiologist at Cardiac Wellness Consultants, SC and National Speaker for Go Red for Women
Bela Gandhi– Founder and President of Smart Dating Academy, also seen on Steve Harvey Show, NBC Today Show, and Good Morning America
The event includes a spring fashion show hosted by the incredible Lourdes Duarte, WGN Anchor, to present the hottest spring fashion trends for professional women. We have looks from Banana Republic, Generation Bliss, Lord & Taylor, M2 Boutique and Eliza J. Our models are my fellow boss babes: Lisa Gunderson of LMG Chicago, Dāsha Guyton of Windy City Wardrobe, Yana Frigelis of Nomad Luxuries, Michelle Landriault of Michelle Swoons, and Amber McCulloch of Style Plus Curves.

In addition to all of this inspiring entertainment, we will be awarding five scholarships to high school and college students who have demonstrated exceptional leadership and academic effort.
I am incredibly honored to be a part of an event that supports women in such a positive and philanthropic way. Join me and my fellow leading ladies for a day of inspiration- purchase tickets on the Daisie Foundation’s website for only $50 and all donations are tax deductible.
