One of the best gifts my son received when he was born was a Radio Flyer wagon. Yes, it might sound a little odd- giving a newborn a wagon that he won’t be able to use for a solid year or so. For me, this brought back so many memories of our family wagon- we used to line it with blankets for long walks, put soil in it for planting our garden, carefully place all of my favorite stuffed animals in it for a “field trip” and so much more. Now, my kids use their wagon for parade watching with their friends, trips to the park and picnics.
Radio Flyer is actually a local company that is celebrating 99 years of making smiles :). Antonio Pasin, a 16 year old boy from Venice born into a family of cabinet makers, came to Chicago without a penny in his pocket. He built his first wagon in 1917, and a successful company was born. He even built a 45 foot statue for the 1933 Chicago World’s Fair, and sold miniature souvenir wagons for 25 cents.
In addition to wagons, Radio Flyer also has trikes, ride-ons and more! Charlotte got her first trike last year from my parents, personalized with her very own license plate.
I just dug out this photo of my first trike, and love making the same memories with her that I enjoyed as a kid.

Sounds like a fun store! Christine.ewell@gmail.com
YES! Super fun store, my kids have received Radio Flyer toys since they were born. Love them!
Ours are catching all kinds of things and water balloon fights! Plus Seven would look dashing in a little red wagon
I could totally see Seven cruising the block this summer in a red wagon!
Playing outside with my sister on our farm – swinging on the willow tree branches, riding bikes down the dirt road, stomping in the mud, using our imaginations for playing adventures! kimberly.daniello@gmail.com
Those were the days!! Not coming home until it was too dark to play!
Eating lots of ice cream! And playing outside until it was dark.

YES!!! I take my kids to Homers Ice Cream (around the block from our house) waaaaay too much in the summer, but it is part of being a kid!
Playing outside for hours with my brothers and neighbors! Oh and eating ice cream!
Anne.m.anglin@gmail.com
I was the biggest tomboy, and proud of it! (and yes, the ice cream is a fave of mine as well)
Mine is swimming in the flooded waters in our cul-de-sac, gross I know but it was the 80's. We thought it was the coolest thing since slice bread! Ha! Also waiting for the Good humor truck!
HA! The spot between our yard and our neighbor's yard always flooded, and we would swim in the flood waters as well. It sounds so gross now that I think about it, but yes- in the 80s no one thought twice about it.
My dad taking us roller skating on the weekends, every weekend, to get us out of the house, so my mom can have some me time. It was the best time with my dad. And now as a mother, I totally get what he was giving my mom. Buy more than that, we build so many awesome memories. Me and my older brother roller blading and my dad holding my younger sister. The best summer memories! Akata.sharma@gmail.com
That is awesome, and what an amazing father! I used to love roller skating- I wish we still had rinks around. I would totally take my kids there!
My favorite summer memories are biking with my friends down to the North Ave beach in Chicago.
I wish I had grown up around here- so many fabulous places to go as a kid!
Riding my bike around out neighborhood back in Michigan with my neighborhood friends.
Rietema.becky@gmail.com
I am from Michigan as well! We rode bikes EVERYwhere, such a great feeling of independence as a kid
My favorite summer memories include a backyard pool that my mom used to fill with warm water! She was too sweet! Also learning to roller skate handing on to a jump rope stretched between my mom and grandpa.
My husband fills our little pool with warm water for our kids!! (I am too lazy). And learning to skate with your family is an amazing memory. Thank you so much for sharing!
And the winner according to Random.org is….Anne Anglin! I will e-mail you for details 🙂 Thank you to everyone for entering, I greatly appreciate it and love hearing about your summer memories.
Bought my daughter her 1st trike for her 1st birthday last summer! She loves it!! Now to teach her how to peddle this summer.
Thanks a lots
