I am not a big fan of pants, jeans in particular. Maybe I am built differently than most women, but they always seem to slip off my derriere. And they aren’t truly comfortable! It doesn’t take any more effort to throw on leggings and a dress, but it somehow comes off unladylike when you are rolling around on the floor with your kids in said dress.
This holiday, I decided to invest in a pair of kick ass (read: pricey) jeans- I splurged on my first actual, honest pair of “designer” jeans. I am not much of a label gal- I am not impressed by interlocking symbols on my rear. My fave boutique, Ella Louvi, carries Black Orchid and the owner Grace highly recommended them to me when I told her I was on the hunt for a mid-rise pair of denim. Yes, all the celebs wear them- Kourtney, Alessandra, Kate- but I needed to see for myself since I don’t have a personal trainer and chef to make my bottom look as good as theirs.
I tried them on and…immediately tossed all of my Forever 21 pairs (yes, the ones that I was constantly trying to shimmy up my midsection every five minutes). So THIS is why people spend money on jeans.
Now, these don’t slip down quite as much, but I still need them to stay put. Luckily, the ONLY belt brand that I wear- Jelt– came out with new colors including black! Seen below from bottom to top- Granite, Glacier, River and Timber Camo. The logo is on the back of the belt and is spelled out in grippy gel to help your pants stay put. Want to add this to your wardrobe? Head to jeltbelt.com and pick out your faves.
What is so wonderful about this belt? It has insanely amazing gel on the inside to prevent slipping, has a FLAT buckle (as in, you can wear a slim t-shirt over it and it remains undetectable), and if I gain or lose a few pounds, the belt still fits. They just came out with new sizing as well, this is seriously a must-have fashion find.
I then tried the black jeans with a black Jelt- it blended perfectly and yes, held my pants up throughout the day! Love how the buckle lies flat so I can either tuck my shirt in or leave it out.
I paired my new jeans with a J. Crew sequin t-shirt (similar here) that I scooped up on the Virtual Yard Sale in my town for $10. I added the “Glacier” Jelt Belt, cherry red killer heels (similar here), a swipe of MAC Ruby Woo (the most retro matte lipstick with a blue undertone) and a Kate Spade Envelope Clutch (similar here). Black and white with pops of red? The perfect holiday look!
What will you be wearing this holiday week? How are you staying comfy yet stylish? What is your color scheme? Tell me, I always have time to listen to outfit plans…just ask my gal pals who constantly receive “yay or nay” texts from me live via the fitting room 😉
Happy Holidays!
