Music has the power to transport you to a different time, bring up memories and emotions. One of the unique performances at Ravinia is the “CSO Goes to the Movies,” and next week they are featuring Danny Elfman’s Music from the films of Tim Burton. The lawn screens will be showing accompanying video for the music- what a perfect night out for the family! Also, as a special treat, Entertainment journalists Dean Richards of WGN TV and Radio and Bill Zwecker of Fox News and the Chicago Sun-Times will be sharing their insights and experiences in a discussion prior to the concert.

Baker Boys
Want some sweet treats to enjoy throughout the night? I recently stopped at Baker Boys and I am going to let you in on a little secret. I popped in there after a shopping trip at Style Hunters around the corner in need of some sugar. I had Charlotte, my 18 month old, with me- the cupcakes looked so good, I got a cupcake to go instead of eating at their cute array of tables. I went back to my car, strapped Charlotte in and ate the insanely delicious carrot cake cupcake surreptitiously in the front seat so I wouldn’t have to share. That is the life of a mom, right??
EVERYTHING they do is from scratch, and they make all of their delicious treats fresh daily. Each day they serve 5 classic flavors (Banana Chocolate Chip, Carrot Cake, Chocolate, Red Velvet and Vanilla) and rotate in a massive array of specialty cupcakes. In addition, they also have frozen custard, assorted bakery items, and Intelligentsia Coffee. I am hooked- this is an absolute MUST TRY bakery!

Nightmare Before Christmas is my go to holiday movie. The best part is that it is great to watch twice a year for both Christmas and Halloween. A tie for a close second are Big Fish and Ed Wood.
That's a tough one. I love Edward Scissorhands but I have to go with Beatlejuice!
