Diner en Blanc: Thrift Store Finds

My philosophy on style: it can’t be bought so why not be stylish for less? I headed to Goodwill to grab some fabulous finds for Diner en Blanc! Check out what patience and a can of spray paint can do:

Diner en Blanc: Goodwill China Section | all dressed up with nothing to drink...

Who needs expensive china?? This Goodwill (Northbrook) had a plethora of it- literally a whole row of white dinner plates, priced from $.49 on up. You do have to search to find matching dessert/salad plates, but I love to mix and match.

I picked up a gorgeous wicker picnic basket ($6.99), 3 candlesticks ($.49-$2.99), 2 white dinner plates ($1.99 each) and 2 sets of dinner and salad plates ($1.99/set). I then grabbed a can of spray paint. This stuff makes it easy to spray and covers smoothly:

Tah dah!!!

Even though the 3 candlesticks were different colors and materials (glass, wood and metal), they look uniform yet eclectic when covered in the same color spray paint. You can add tapers or hurricanes with electric candles for a different look. The basket turned out beautiful- this is just one coat of the spray paint.

Diner en Blanc: DIY Dessert Tray Materials | all dressed up with nothing to drink...

Want to make a 2-tier dessert tray? Grab a candle stick, a dinner plate, and a salad plate. If you want to permanently glue them together, use E6000 craft adhesive. If you want it to be portable and easy to put together/take down, grab some adhesive putty. The Duck brand is white and will help secure your candlestick to your plates temporarily:
