Summer is finally here, and you know what that means, right? Time to head outside, wake up from our winter hibernation, and stimulate the economy.
One of my absolute favorite things to do in the Chicagoland area is to attend a concert at Ravinia. If you have never been there, make sure to put it on your summer to-do list; you won’t be disappointed! Even though I have only lived in Chicago since 2003, I have incredible memories at this outdoor concert venue.
Here is a shot of Bryson’s first concert EVER- the band Chicago was performing at Ravinia! It was a perfect event for a little one- he dozed in his car seat as an exhausted mom & dad enjoyed the music. He fell asleep shortly after the concert started, so we were able to have a social life for once.
Another shot- one of my friends celebrated her birthday at Ravinia last summer. She invited a dozen girls for a fabulous potluck, and we gossiped the night away as we listened to the Wallflowers and Train.
And one of my favorites- Date Night! Bart and I have come to truly embrace Date Nights at Ravinia as a staple in our summer lineup. We attended Gavin DeGraw last year in July and it was one of the best shows I have seen. When the sun goes down and the whole park is illuminated by candlelight, I am always in awe of this beautiful scene. I will recap our experience next week- we are headed to Merlo’s for dinner beforehand for authentic Italian on the patio.
I have recently discovered the number of amazing businesses that surround the park in the Ravinia District. As we head to the park, I always see people living it up on Abigail’s patio sipping expertly crafted cocktails, sampling the delish pizza and inventive brussels sprouts at Merlo’s, or trying on festival fashion at SoShee Boutique. This area is truly a destination for a perfect evening- it is choc full of unique boutiques, remarkable restaurants, food specialty shops, convenience retailers and caters to those in need of high-end personal and professional services. I have always loved a town where everything is within walking distance, and this fits the bill with a historic twist. City friends- you can even take the Metra in- the Ravinia stop lets you off in the middle of it all.
I am SO excited for my Date Night at Ravinia this coming Wednesday- Gipsy Kings are performing!! If you haven’t heard their unique blend of Flamenco, Western Pop and Latin rhythm, you are missing out. Lucky for you, I have two pavilion seats to give away!! Simply enter via the Rafflecopter below, and I hope to see you there!
Disclosure: I received tickets to Ravinia for review purposes; all opinions are honest and my own!
