Summer Entertaining in New Orleans

This is a sponsored post.

Sun’s out, and it is the unofficial start to summer! It is time to come out of hibernation and let the gatherings begin. Here are a few products to kick off the season of entertaining with a focus on outdoor summer dinner parties.

Thermacell E55 Rechargeable Mosquito Repeller

Having a cookout? Don’t want to ruin your meal with the scent of bug spray? You need to have the Thermacell E55 Rechargeable Mosquito Repeller on hand for all of your picnics, patio parties and potlucks. This portable repeller has a heater that draws repellant upwards, and then creates a 20 ft. zone of protection.

Stone Lain

I have been on the lookout for a versatile dish set that can go from a casual Monday night cookout to an upscale summer dinner party, and Stone Lain definitely strikes that balance perfectly. Stone Lain offers complete sets or individual pieces for an affordable casual tablescape. Plates and bowls are stackable for easy storage, too.

Wonderful Pistachios No Shells

Want an easy salad that holds up in summer weather and packs a protein punch? This Spinach Salad with Wonderful Pistachios, Halos, Goat Cheese and Mint is perfect for a summer dinner party.

  • 5 Wonderful Halos mandarins (or 3 oranges)
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 8 oz. fresh baby spinach
  • 1/2 medium red onion, thinly sliced, divided
  • 1/3 cup packed fresh mint leaves
  • 2 oz. goat cheese, crumbled

  1. Peel the mandarins. Thinly slice crosswise into rounds
  2. Add the vinegar, olive oil, salt, pepper, and 1/4 cup of the mandarin slices to a blender. Cover and puree.
  3. Add the spinach, onion, and mint to a large bowl. Toss with half of the mandarin vinaigrette.
  4. Transfer the dressed salad onto individual plates. Arrange the remaining mandarin slices on top. Sprinkle with the goat cheese and Wonderful Pistachios. Drizzle with the remaining vinaigrette or serve on the side.
