PlayCHIC 2016

I have always loved to play dress up. I used to set up “photo shoots” at home with my manual wind camera (remember those??) and wait for a week for the film to be developed at the local grocery

If playing dress up is in your DNA, PlayCHIC is the ultimate fashion show for  you! I am proud to be an ambassador for this fabulously fun event, along with some of the most spectacular women in Chicago:

This year is the 5th Annual Playchic Fashion Show, an innovative runway show that combines fierce fashion with top toys during ChiTAG’s Chicago Toy & Game Week hits Chicago November 18th at Navy Pier’s Grand Ballroom.

Here is a little FAQ in case you are still wondering what this unique concept is all about!

What is PlayCHIC?
Pairing renowned haute couture designers with familiar toy and game brands to pioneer unexpected and creative designs, PlayCHIC fashions a one-of- a-kind runway of edgy, playful looks for an unforgettable evening.

What sets PlayCHIC apart from other fashion shows?
Much like “Project Runway” PlayCHIC challenges Chicago’s top fashion designers to create a runway look inspired by a playful toy or game. Borris Powell will serve as host for the evening, creating a womenswear look inspired by Twister celebrating the 50th Anniversary. Elda De LaRosa is teaming up with Twister for an evening womenswear design and Lagi Nadeau is bringing Mabel’s Labels to life for a look guaranteed to turn heads. PomPomWow and Orbeez are creating their own runway stunners and from what we hear, it’s going to be larger than life!

Ok, but what does this look like in real life?
Here is a sneak peek of Pom Pom Wow’s creation! So many kids are obsessed with this way to deck out everything from school supplies to hair accessories, and the look they came up with is nothing short of amazing:

So what have you seen in previous years?
We saw everything from a poodle made entirely of Rainbow Loom loops and a dress with thousands of metal pieces from Meccano. The creativity is out of this world!
