Now that the kids are taken care of, how about the parents? The stress of back to school was enough to throw parents and guardians off balance, so this is the time to focus on yourself. While we are currently living our new normal, taking care of ourselves is more important now than ever. Here are some on-the-go self-care ideas to help you stay healthy inside and out, even though you may be on the go and can’t carve out time for a spa day!
On-The-Go Boost
There are a few things I need and never seem to get enough of- water, energy, and sleep, and I can’t seem to figure out how to pack it all in. I finally found a way to get organic superfoods on-the-go which can help in all areas of health and wellness.
BareOrganics Superfood Water Enhancers easily transform hot or cold water into a flavorful and nutritious beverage, helping hydrate and nourish. Whether you are looking to inspire wellness at home or on-the-go, these great-tasting, sugar-free stick packs instantly dissolve in your water, smoothie, or other favorite beverage for an added boost of nutrients. There are eight specialized, functional powders including energy, immunity, and sleep (EVERYTHING I need!). Use code Fall15 on their website for a 15% discount! You can also find them in stores at Walmart.
On-The-Go Breakfast
So many people support the saying that breakfast is the most important meal of the day.
On the weekends, I like to make an Oatmeal Bar for the family that they can customize. I set out fruit, syrup, nut butter, brown sugar, etc… and everyone makes their own oatmeal bowl.
During the week, I don’t have the time to go through all that, unfortunately! Kodiak Cakes came out with Blueberries & Cream Oatmeal Power Cup- Made with 14g of protein, 100% whole grains for a filling breakfast that is ready to eat in less than a minute, and you can take it to go. I like this for myself during the week.
On-The-Go Vitamins
Have you ever walked into the vitamin aisle at the store and became completely overwhelmed? I know that vitamins are important but I am clueless when it comes to what, how many, and which brand. I do know that I have seen the bottles with the yellow caps forEVER on the shelves, which are Nature Made vitamins, and have been in the business for over 45 years. I remember the excitement of buying my first bottle of prenatal vitamins from them (which I am sure I still have and need to toss since my oldest child is 9…fall cleaning, anyone?).
Nature Made came out with Nurish, a vitamin subscription service that uses a science-based assessment to offer personalized daily vitamin packets delivered to your doorstep. They offer a personalized assessment – factoring in your age, diet, wellness goals, and much more- and send a 30-day supply of your custom, grab-and-go supplement packs are shipped right to your door. This is truly on-the-go self-care: I pop mine in my purse and take them in the car with my morning water. I love how they have my name on them- such a personal touch!
On-The-Go Meal Planning
My friends and I joke that being an adult is just figuring out what to make for dinner for the rest of your life. It is seriously the bane of my existence, and I tend to get lazy and serve my kids chicken nuggets and Mac n cheese (and eat it myself, ugh).
I tried a few meal planning services- some made me commit to a subscription, others didn’t have enough variety. Out of all that I tried, I went with HelloFresh because you can pick meals depending on your dietary preferences, schedule, and household size and your delivery will show up on the day that you choose. Whether you’re a vegetarian, on a low-calorie diet, or looking for something quick and easy or family-friendly, HelloFresh gives you the flexibility to select meals from a weekly menu. Also, compared to other meal delivery companies I have tried, HelloFresh has less plastic packaging. Their veggies are loose for the most part, each one isn’t enclosed in its own plastic bag. If you use my link, you can get $70 off your first month if you are a new customer!
They test each recipe 45 times- I just discovered that while looking through their site again and think that is a great way to ensure that ALL of us can make the meals.
Here are a few recipes they share on their site so you can see what types of meals they send. I have saved money by using HelloFresh for a few reasons, one of which is that high-quality spices are EXPENSIVE, and for me to buy an entire jar racks the cost of the dish up. For example, I tried this Creamy Parmesan Chicken Spaghetti which my kids loved. It called for 1T of Tuscan Spice. The smallest jar of Tuscan Seasoning at my local spice house is $7.49, and odds are I wouldn’t use it again before it went bad.
Cheers to taking care of YOU, and carving out a little on-the-go self-care so you can live your life in a way that makes you healthy and happy!
