New Products for Summer

Summer is HERE, and if you know me, you know I love discovering things that hit the market for every season. I rounded up a few that I hadn’t tried yet and tested them out- these are my new products for summer!

Pink Hair? Don’t Care!- No Fade Fresh

Every time the warm weather starts creeping in, I feel the need to keep things interesting appearance-wise. It is almost like I am trying to shed all of the cold-weather, winter blahs and test out something new. Many people say “New Year, New You,” but I tend to bring the novelty about this time of year. Like…this is about the time of year I would think bangs were a good idea (they aren’t). Or another tattoo (ehhh….not yet).

Instead of implementing something permanent, testing the waters with something temporary might be a better idea. No Fade Fresh is a color-depositing shampoo and conditioner that is plant-based, and works on all hair colors and textures. It was formulated to enhance salon or box color hair, and it helps stop hair color from fading without damage. They offer a huge assortment of colors- pastels like lavender, vivids like hot pink, and naturals like red, brown and blonde.

It works best on hair that is already color-treated and can add color to platinum or bleached blonde hair. I tested a pastel on my daughter Charlotte’s hair, which has never been color-treated and is a sandy blonde/brown, and it deposited the faintest hint of color. We might try one of the vibrant shades on her next, but this was the perfect way to safely dip her toe into hair color. This is one of the new products for summer that I have two thumbs up!

Dinner in a Minute- Minute® Ready to Serve Brown Rice & Quinoa

During summer, I like to be in the kitchen as little of time as possible. The oven? Rarely gets turned on. Stove? Only if necessary. The Instant Pot is a favorite because it doesn’t heat up my kitchen, and I can set it and forget it. I make Chicken Burrito Bowls often, and the biggest pain in the butt is cooking the rice and/or quinoa. Rinsing the quinoa, boiling the water, making sure it doesn’t over-cook, the whole process is too much for me in the summer.

Minute Rice brilliantly came out with these single-serving microwaveable cups with 55g of whole grains, so all I have to do is pop it in the microwave for one minute and DONE. Since I am a single mom with joint custody, half of my meals aren’t with my kids…so these cups are perfect for one person as well. They are also perfect for travel! We recently went camping, and I was able to bring these along (yes, we had a microwave in our camper).

DIY Infusions- LĒVO II

Infusions are the next big thing in the culinary world. Or maybe they are already the big thing and I am just behind the curve. Either way, I’m on the train and ready to test it out as one my favorite new products for summer!

I am a HUGE fan of infused olive oils, and often pay crazy prices once I fall in love with a sample in a store. I have tried so may- Basil, Garlic, Jalapeno, you name it. I love to cook with them, as well as use them in homemade salad dressings (I try not to buy pre-made salad dressings because they are so full of preservatives and sugar). The LĒVO II is a simple and effective way to infuse herbs into oil, butter, honey, simple syrup and more. Yes, you can infuse oil to be used for gummies, brownies, candies, the list is endless. It is going to be a fun summer 🙂

Water, Water, Everywhere- Astrea Water Bottle

I have been traveling around Michigan the past couple of weeks with my kids, camping, visiting family, and…eating. Because that is one of my favorite things to do, of course! When we were camping a couple of weeks ago, the water source, while potable, wasn’t palatable. Michigan has notoriously hard water, and much of what we drink is well water. My kids aren’t used to this, so they tended not to hydrate as much as they should. This is a BIG issue for all of us, because dehydration causes dizziness, fainting, irritability, headaches, and so many more serious issues. When we are hiking up the Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes in the middle of summer, you bet we are bringing a ton of water with us!

Astrea water bottles are certified to remove lead, pesticides, antibiotics, hormones and other contaminants in water. It is water without questions- just fill from any potable source, and the filtering is done for you, right in the bottle. It holds 18 oz. with the filter in, and filters last for three months. They have two types- BPA-free Tritan Plastic and Stainless Steel.

Cheers to finding new products for summer to make life easier and more enjoyable!
