Mother’s Day Gift Guide

Flowers. Macaroni Necklaces. Perfume.

These are all traditional gifts for Mother’s Day. Break out of the rut and get her something she will use, might actually want, and probably doesn’t NEED (because it is all about spoiling her, and who wants a vacuum cleaner for Mother’s Day, no matter how much she NEEDS one?)

Here are a few categories of different moms and some ideas for each:

The Stressed Mom

This gal needs some relaxation, stat. Whether she has enough kids for a basketball team or just a lot on her plate, she needs to take it down a notch.

Massage AND Appointment

A massage is a great gift. Really. It is. I absolutely love getting a massage gift certificate, it puts a smile on my face. Go one up on this gift and make an appointment for her. Cover the kids and any other responsibilities she has that day and just book her.

At Home Aromatherapy Spa Experience

If your mom needs a little relaxation to start her day, try the Essio Aromatherapy Shower Starter Kit for $44.99. This aromatherapy diffuser for the shower comes with 3 essential oil pods and a device to diffuse the oil in your shower. I tried this product and it literally boosted my mood throughout the day. My favorite scent is Unwind, an amazing blend of Orange Sweet, Bergamont, Petitgrain, Lavender, Patchouli and Vetiver. The kit also comes with Breathe and Passion, both delicious as well. You can adjust the amount of scent (I was nervous at first, being someone who is incredibly sensitive to smells) and it is all organic. Use the code SCENTOFAMOM to get 20% off, or sign up for their e-mail list for $5 off!

The Nostalgia Queen

Some moms love the macaroni necklaces and probably still have them. For the nostalgic mom, give her something that brings those memories back!

Custom Silhouette Necklace

I ordered one for myself on Mother’s Day because I wanted it so badly! Le Papier Studio does gorgeous, affordable custom work. They have a lot of different silhouette options- from wood necklaces to pillows to wall hangings, make sure to cruise the entire store on Etsy!

The Garden Gal

Is your mom outside all summer, always bringing you extra tomatoes and cucumbers? Make her day with something that complements her green thumb!

Garden Stone

If you have your own kids, create a garden stone for your mom with their hand/foot prints and their name and year. They can gaze at this for years to come, and your kiddos can go over to grandma’s house and measure how fast their hands/feet grow! It is super easy to to. Grab a kit from for around $16.95; I use the Milestone Kids’ Step Stone Kit. I made this below for my mom this Mother’s Day- this kit included clear plastic discs so you can put photos in it!

Vintage Herb Markers

Every year, I plant my herbs. Every year, I have to take a wild guess at where I planted everything. Get your mom some adorable herb markers that are hand stamped on vintage spoons! Put a little class in that grass 🙂 Etsy has some great options!

The Jet Setter

Maybe your mom is retired and checking off items on her bucket list, racking up miles like a flight attendant. Make her travels all that much more enjoyable (and stylish!).

A Crossbody Bag

This one isn’t too big or too small for a cross country jaunt- very Three Bears and just right! It comes in 4 different colors, and Kate Spade has never disappointed me.

Travel Shoe Bags

They have some adorable ones on Etsy, but if you are the DIY type, this would be an easy project to sew. No one likes their dirty shoes touching their resort wear, and gorgeous shoe bags make it even more fun to pack for an upcoming adventure.
