Q: Hey C! I have been thinking of trying those nail sticker things. Any thoughts?
A: FINALLY someone asked about these!! I have been dying to try them as well, and now have a reason to…research purposes only of course. Take a look at my review!
I tested out the Sally Hansen Salon Effects Real Nail Polish Strips. The application was quite a process if you are just used to swiping on the Insta-Dry polish and heading out the door, but it lasted quite a bit longer than any other polish I have tried.
After multiple attempts at applying the strips, I think I finally got the hang of it. Here is a pic on Day 1:
Yes, I did paint my toenails lime green- so cute to coordinate! |
As you can see, they are a bit of a Monet.
- Tai: Do you think she’s pretty?
- Cher: No, she’s a full-on Monet.
- Tai: What’s a Monet?
- Cher: It’s like a painting, see? From far away, it’s OK, but up close, it’s a big old mess.
It was tough to get the strips close to the cuticle as well as very difficult to create a smooth line at the edge of the nail. You are supposed to stretch the strip a bit when applying, but this distorts the design.
Day 4:
Made it through 25 diaper changes, 5 loads of laundry, 1 road trip, and a round of cocktails (ok, multiple rounds of cocktails). Getting a little wasted…the nails, not me:
Day 6: A little worse for the wear, but lasting longer than some Hollywood marriages:
Day 8: Quite wilted, but much better than a traditional manicure!
Overall: 8 out of 10. If I improve my application skills, I can easily see them lasting longer. There are 16 strips in a box with assorted shapes & sizes to match your nails. I think you could get at least two, maybe three manicures out of this if you cut them in half and didn’t screw up!
Give them a shot! Here’s a coupon for $1 off since they generally run $9-$10. There is also a Buy One, Get One 50% off special on Drugstore.com right now!
I don't know what I did, but mine chipped the next day!!! I will have to try again.
I think they were a success because my nails were so short. I also tried to stretch them as much as possible over my nail which seemed to help adhere it. Worth a shot!
