I feel like after the crazy rush of summer (To the beach! To the pool! To the lake!), fall is the time to slow down, reconnect and take a deep breath before the holiday season. I recently hosted a Fall Date Night lunch with some of my favorite gal pal bloggers to check out Sullivan’s Steahouse new fall menu, and I can’t wait to take my husband there for a date night.
Here’s what I didn’t know about fall- it is crab season! Apparently, there are a few weeks in the fall that you can harvest crab, so it is the freshest time of year for this delicious treat. Sullivan’s Steakhouse is currently featuring The Double Take through November 15th- their signature filet paired with 1/2 lb. of wild caught king crab legs for $44. When I go out for dinner, I always debate- do I want the seafood OR the steak, and at this price I get both!
Another special for this time of year is the King Crab Mac n Cheese. Executive Chef Brian Gray was on hand to give us a demo if this indulgent dish…and yes, there was a whole lot of heavy cream and gooey cheese involved. I learned a lot about why my mac n cheese NEVER turns out as good as his- I didn’t know that corn starch needs to be added to cold water, and is activated when it boils. You learn something new every day!
The featured fall cocktail is the Apple Cinnamon Mule- it is like fall in a copper mug, and I might be serving this at Friendsgiving this year!
They combine Barritt’s Ginger Beer with Jim Beam Fire and Apple Bourbon:
After our rich and indulgent lunch, I brought in a rolling rack of items from my closet to show the women my favorite date night looks. I always love taking a peek into other people’s closet, so this was my way of letting them in on my wardrobe. Some of my favorite items currently are a leopard print midi skirt my friend Sonia tipped me off on- under $20, pairs perfectly with everything from a sexy lace cami to a chambray button down (tip- SIZE UP! I usually take a small and a large fit me perfectly)

I also hosted a few fabulous giveaways- from a glitter clutch with all the beauty essentials for a gorgeous date night, to massive Moscow Mule kit featuring Barritt’s Ginger Beer to the ultimate date night with tickets to Elf at Marriott Lincolnshire Theatre AND a gift certificate to Sullivan’s!
All guests left with goodie bag- a bottle of Sullivan’s Cabernet that pairs perfectly with so many of their menu items, mini Moscow Mule kits, and a gift bag of beauty treats from Cos Bar in Highland Park (more on this gem in a later post!).
All in all, Sullivan’s makes the perfect date night- from custom craft cocktails to perfectly seared steaks to succulent crab legs, you can’t go wrong.
Disclosure: I received compensation to pair with Sullivan’s, but all opinions are honest and my own, as always!
