Bellinis & Blow Outs with JOOJ pt. 1

There’s a new blow out studio in town, and this one comes to YOU!

JOOJ Blow Dry, the first mobile blow out salon housed in a vintage Airstream, is making its beautiful debut on Chicago’s North Shore! I was fortunate enough to host the first private party at my house, and it was absolutely fabulous.

The team at JOOJ (pronounced “zhuj,” which is the salon industry term for adding pizzazz, made well known by Carson Kressly) want you to have a good hair day. In fact, they feel that EVERYONE deserves a good hair day, and looking good helps you feel good.

Here are the details:

Stylists consult with clients and go over a number of blow out options via the stocked iPad.

Clients are treated to a shampoo, conditioning treatment and scalp massage.

Stylists then proceed with the blow out, using the Harry Josh Pro Tools 2000 Dryer, “the pastel-colored Rolls Royce of the blow-dryer world” according to Allure.

The Sophisticate, Jet-Setter, and Go-Getter styles are all $48, the Busy Bee and Day Dreamer add $10 to the base rate, and the Social Butterfly is $80.

I chose the Day Dreamer, and love how it turned out!! I had a date night at Taste on Chestnut that evening and it definitely lasted. (Shhh…I didn’t wash my hair for 3 days after my blow out, and it still looked amazing).

This is just the beginning. JOOJ is a complete experience, here are just some of the luxury items they offer:

• Nespresso machine for you to enjoy your favorite caffeinated beverage
• Complimentary headphones for you to keep (I am using mine right now!)
• Wide selection of magazines
• Bottled water
• BYOB options (I did a Mimosa/Bellini Bar)
• Adorable seating area for socializing or waiting
• Custom JOOJ hair products available for purchase (I use their Keratin Smooth shampoo & conditioner)

I did bring a Smooch Box from GiGis Cupcakes to the Airstream, which consisted of a dozen assorted delicious mini cupcakes, decorated with festive sprinkles.

During the week, JOOJ is parked at the Renaissance Chicago North Shore Hotel in Northbrook (Monday-Wednesday) and Old Orchard (Thursday & Friday); check out their calendar here to book an appointment.
