Does every kid at one point wish they were a mermaid?
I remember when my mermaid obsession began- it centered around Daryl Hannah, and I was probably 5 when I first saw the movie. Who wouldn’t fall at least a little in love with the innocent beauty of the sea with great hair?
Your little one has the chance to meet a “real” mermaid at 900 Shops on Michigan Avenue this week! Little Miss Charlotte and I were able to attend the preview, and she fell in love with all the Under the Sea enchantment that was going on.
900 Shops have transformed Level 2 into an underwater oasis, complete with massive suspended jellyfish, diving dolphins, pearl-strewn rocks and a seaweed-draped oyster-shaped mermaid lair. If this isn’t a little bit of kid heaven I don’t know what is!
This event runs through Sunday, July 29th so head there ASAP!
FREE events include:
*Fishtail braids and glittery scale face painting by Mario Tricocci:
*Chance to become adopted, a child of the sea, with Blue Ring which is an ocean conservation group:
*Mermaid Cupcakes provided by Swirls (while supplies last):
*Visits with the mermaid (professional photos are available for purchase but visits are free):
If you want to get the complete under the sea experience, make sure to book the Mermaid & Sailor Themed Tea Party with my friend Lisa’s company, Tea Time Socials. This is a spectacularly-decorated and lavish tea party which focuses on kindness. It includes an Under the Sea Craft, tea, sweet treats, story time and of course a dance party! The price is $30 and tickets can be purchased on Eventbrite here.
Of course, I had to have a “teamosa” with friends while there:
Tea Time Socials is the most adorable pop up tea party concept- you can even book them for your party! Lisa and I co-hosted a party at the store Share in Wilmette, and it was a massive success. Also, she just published a book- gorgeously illustrated- entitled The Day the Tea Party Traveled.
Enjoy your day of under the sea fabulousness at 900 Shops!
Cheers to adding a dash of fantasy and imagination to your child’s day!
