Love Your (False) Lashes!

I am the absolute worst when it comes to applying false eyelashes. I can't tell you how many times I have made an attempt to glue them on, only to end up with gobs of lash glue, a few tears and a resigned swipe of mascara in lieu of the desired falsies (which ended up in the trash). I just couldn't.

I have fairly decent lashes, but of course like most women want those va-va-voom, make-my-eyes-pop full volume eyelashes that stand out. Also, to me, the biggest benefit of false lashes is the inability to make the color run. One of the easiest ways to ruin your makeup is to shed a few tears and end up with raccoon eyes thanks to smeared mascara.

I had considered lash extensions since it is de rigueur for North Shore moms. I have had the opportunity to review a half dozen lash extension boutiques but declined because of the maintenance and damage extensions can cause.

Last weekend, I went to a beautiful family wedding and *gasp* forgot my mascara. The wedding was in a more remote part of Michigan where Ulta and Sephora aren't on every corner. About an hour before the wedding started I dug waaaay into the bottom of my cosmetic bag and my hand hit the pair of ESQIDO False Lashes.

I had been meaning to review these for oh, a few months, but with my terrible track record of applying false lashes I procrastinated. Since I look incredibly ill with bare blonde lashes, I quickly got over my trepidation and busted out the lashes.

When I initially selected my lashes on the ESQIDO website, I couldn't believe how many data points were required to match your eyes and face to the correct pair of lashes. I always thought lashes just came in a little plastic package at the drugstore with a one size fits all mentality. Not so.

ESQIDO helps you choose the proper lash shape, style, volume and length by asking a series of questions about your characteristics and lifestyle. I selected the ESQIDO mink lashes NIMBUS style, which is full volume.

Since the lashes are made with a cotton band vs. a synthetic one, they are incredibly simple to apply. The band is moveable instead of rigid, and it forms to your eyelid with ease. In just a few steps and under 5 minutes, I had my lashes! I used the ESQIDO eyelash glue which wasn't overly tacky and didn't show up after it dried.

Turns out, celebs like GiGi Hadid, Alessandra Ambrosio and Candice Swanepoel all use ESQIDO lashes. If they are good enough for a Victoria's Secret Angel, they are definitely good enough for me!

Here are a few tips on applying your false lashes:

*Don't grasp them by the individual lashes; only handle by the band.
*Make sure to measure and trim prior to application- trim from the outer corner, but don't shove them into the inner corner. Leave a little space between your inner corner and the lashes.
*After applying eyelash glue, wait a few seconds for the glue to become tacky before applying. Don't blow on it though- think about putting those germs near your eye!
*When applying, come a bit from above not directly from the front. This way, you are laying the lashes on top of your natural lash line.
*Try to get as close to your natural lash line as possible. When they are all lined up, I press a bit to adhere.
*I personally don't use mascara after applying lashes- with the set I chose, I didn't need it. Also, with ESQIDO, you can reuse the lashes multiple times- mascara would mess them up majorly.
*To remove, soak a cotton swab in oil-free eye makeup remover and soak the base. Lift from the base, not the individual lashes.

During the wedding, I definitely shed a few tears but my lashes were the only thing that looked fresh at the end of the night!

I highly recommend using a higher quality false lashes like ESQUIDO- for a fraction of the price of extensions ($22-$32), you can have full, voluminous lashes for a night out and they can be re-used multiple times.

Cheers to looking lovely with minimal effort!

Disclosure: I received a pair of ESQUIDO lashes and glue for review purposes- all opinions are honest and my own as always.
