How to Save on Beauty Products and Services

Who doesn't love to save money??

I was on WCIU's morning show The Jam this morning to talk about ways to save money on beauty products and services and thought I would share with my friends here as well.

Spa Week

It's the most wonderful time of the year...nope, not the holidays, it is SPA WEEK! During the week of October 16th-22nd, top spas across the country offer a range of spa services for only $50. Want to book your treatment? Head to www.spaweek.com and search for $50 deals in your area.

Here are a few of my favorites around Chicago and the suburbs:

60 Min Water-Basil Vodkatini Body Scrub at Oxygen Spa Studio in Chicago

Deluxe Beard Facial For Men at Common Sense Skin in Naperville

Appointments go fast, so grab your spot today!

Salon Services at a School

Want to save a huge chunk of change on services such as a haircut, color, mani/pedi or makeup application? Check out a school! Student salons are a great way to experience high-level salon and spa services at very modest prices. When I lived in the western suburbs, I visited Tricoci University for all of my cuts and color. All services are performed under a licensed instructor, so no worries that you will walk out looking like Edward Scissorhands.

Here is a sample of pricing:

Graduated Bob Cut- $14
All Over Color- $35
Simply Beautiful Makeup Application- $15

Discount Beauty Supplies

I honestly don't have time to get a mani/pedi so I usually end up doing mine at home after the kids go to bed. I found the best spot to score discounted beauty products- Beauty Supply Stores. Although they are originally designed for cosmetologists and beauticians, regular gals and guys wishing to save money can shop there as well.

The best hidden gem is Lynamy Beauty Supply in Uptown, but Sally Beauty Supply has great deals as well.

Essie Nail Polish- $9 at Ulta vs. $6 at Lynamy
OPI Infinite Shine 2 Gel- $12.50 vs. $5.50 at Lynamy

DIY Beauty

There are SO many ways to use everyday products on your hair and skin that I don't even know where to start!

Coconut Oil + Sugar for a lip scrup
Castor Oil for lash growth
Baby Powder in between coats of mascara for voluminous lashes
Tumeric Powder + Coconut Oil face mask

Cheers to saving money on beauty to order another round of cocktails during your night out!
