Valentine's Day Craft & Heart Mini Cake Recipe with Simple Mills
Every year, my mom usually makes Valentine's Day cookies and sends them...sadly she is in Mexico this year on vacation, so I decided to whip up my own version of a treat with my kids. My son and I also put together a pennant banner for the mantle- simple, easy and timeless. Check out these two activities and let me know what you are doing to celebrate Heart Day!
Rope or Ribbon
Cookie Cutters (letters spelling LOVE or similar)
Watercolors and paint brush
To make this pennant, cut out 5 (or as many as you want!) triangles out of heavy card stock. Punch holes in the corners of the short side of the triangles. Take your cookie cutters and paint inside them with watercolor paint (I had to hold the cookie cutter for my 3.5 year old, and he was able to "stay within the lines"). Give your child the length of rope or ribbon once the paint dries and have them thread the pennants on the rope. DONE! So cute!
(We actually used the pennant kit from Koala Crate- see my review of this Kid's Subscription Box on The Little Style File here!)
Mix the two chocolate muffin mixes according to the directions and pour into a greased high-sided cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees until a toothpick comes out clean (a bit longer than you would for mini muffins, but not as long as regular sized muffins). Let cool.
