The Fall Edit: Eyewear

When I was in kindergarten, I remember my optometrist telling me that I needed glasses. I was CRUSHED- absolutely terrified that I would get teased mercilessly by my peers. My mom must have told Ms. Samdal, my teacher, about my apprehension. I arrived to class wearing my powder blue plastic-rimmed specs and the kids were nowhere to be found. All of a sudden, they jumped out of their hiding spots and cheered in support of my new look.

Although I have upgraded from those glasses, I never made an investment in chic eyewear until now. I finally purchased my first pair of "adult" glasses, and I am in love. This is such a great addition to your wardrobe- a functional piece you wear everyday. It is perfect for dry winter weather, when contacts become totally uncomfortable and rolling out of bed and tossing on glasses with a messy topknot is ultimately more appealing than contacts and perfect hair.

The most difficult part was selecting the frames, but IRISTOCRACY, the most fashion-forward eyewear company out there, has an amazing online try-on feature. It is virtual reality at its best- you simply pick your frames, gaze super model-style into your webcam, and the frames magically appear on your face. Want to see them from a different angle? Simply turn your head...the frames follow. You can even try two pairs on side by side! My 3 year old and I had a blast with this- we sat there for almost an hour trying on the most outrageous frames we could find. You can also try on four pairs at your eye doctor's office for free with their Retail Try-On Kit.

It was time to get down to business and try on the glasses that I would purchase. I kind of sent way too many selfies to Shayna, IRISTOCRACY's Creative Director (sorry Shayna, thanks for bearing with me!). She helped me figure out what frames would work best for my face shape. Here is a snapshot of the glasses that I virtually tried on vs. the frames in person:

And the final product; IRISTOCRACY doesn't fill prescriptions because SO many are filled incorrectly online. I went to my optometrist and they fitted lenses for the frames and adjusted the glasses so they fit me well. They have a special right now- they will give you a $50 Visa Gift Card when you fill your prescription with an eye care professional.

They also have an array of amazing accessories to go with your glasses. Here are my favorites- the CC Skye Resort Bangle is on my accessory bucket list. I want two of them that I will wear on each wrist like Wonder Woman. Sigh. Some day!!!

A huge thank you to IRISTOCRACY for working with me- they are a full service online eyewear boutique, and held my hand through the process. Make sure to use up your flex spending & check them out!

Disclosure: I was provided with a complimentary set of frames, but all opinions are honest and my own.

  2. My friend Sarita has applied sleepSEE for her vision and she has told me that with sleepSEE technique for vision correction she’s the best experience with. She also added that it’s nonsurgical, very much comfortable, safe and provides with 100% guaranteed effectiveness.
